El Penedès is one of Europe’s richest and most diverse winemaking
regions and Catalonia’s most productive and internationally best
known. This DO is renowned for the outstanding quality of its
products and the dynamism of its people.


The local terrain is comprised of small hills that rise from the sea and
towards Montserrat and small valleys with rivers.


The climate is Mediterranean, temperate, warm and mild, with
considerable seasonal fluctuations in temperature. Low rainfall and
a high incidence of solar radiation make El Penedès an ideal place to
grow vines.


The outstanding variety of Penedès is Xarel·lo, which gives wellstructured, single variety young and aged wines.


The most traditional white wines are aromatic, lively and wellstructured. The sparkling wines and rosés are fragrant, with intense aromas and persistence. The red wines are typically silky, aromatic and well-balanced, providing good body and alcohol contents ranging from 12 to 15º.
